Data Point Report

Introduction

The printing of the associated Data Points used in the measurement of a plane is often helpful to better understand the flatness or profile of the plane. Each data point is printed showing the deviation to the plane and its XYZ location.

Activating

The command to print the data points can be found in the Planar Profiler Control. Locate the menu item:

[System Options→Print All Data Points]

This will tag the measured plane with a flag to print all data points during the printing process. The actual display inside Geomet will not display all data points.

This command works with the normal inspection report and the concise inspection report.

Example

figure 1, Data Point Printout Example

In the example shown in figure 1, each data point is reported, first showing the Deviation along the Plane Normal, followed by the label identifying its order and finally, the XYZ location. Each data point is compared against the assigned profile band and printed in one of three colors.

Black represents the data points that lie within the profile band.

Red represents the data points that are outside the upper limit.

Blue represents the data points that are outside the lower limit.

The profile band being used is defined in the Planar Profile under [View Control Mode - Feature Normal].
