Welcome to the Geomet Installer.

This file lists the latest news, updates and changes in this installer package. The Setup Program Installs/Upgrades your Geomet system to version 1.04 build 001.001. Included on this CD is an installer for version 1.04 build .007.008. and 1.04 build .007.010.

The changes associated to .007.008 include an expanded digitizing mode. These modes are primarily used with Direct Computer Control (DCC) systems. If you are a manual system it is not required to load this version.

Topics covered in this document:

New Features with Geomet v.1.04.007.008

.004.001

Prismatic Filtering: To access this feature press <Alt> + <F8>. Select from the choices the features you want reported and displayed.

.005.001

Construction Feature Look back: (301 only) This feature allows you to edit the number of features used during a construction. For example: if you created a plane using the last 3 -Z Point features and you want to change the features used from 3 to 5, right click on the fit feature and select the option to "Edit Fit Feature". You will be presented with a dialog to change the look back number. CAUTION: this editing process does not recalculate the construction until the part program is cycled. It will not verify that the added features are compatible with the desired construction.

.007.001

This update provides for an automatic user prompt when using manual indexing probes with DCC systems. To make this feature active, select from [System Options]->[Probes and Sensors] the corresponding model of probing system attached to you CMM. Those models that qualify for automatic user prompts will offer two choices. For example: from the drop-down selection choose "MIP *No Prompt". You will be setting Geomet up to utilize a manual indexing probe with no automatic user prompts. This means the user will be responsible to add a user prompt <Shift>+<Y> to suspend execution while the operator repositions the probe head. If the selection was "MIP *Auto Prompt" then Geomet will suspend execution of a part program whenever a probe change is requested.

.007.004

Elimination of the required IP before a probe change when a motorized probe is installed (PH9/10/50). Geomet will now enter the XYZ position as an IP automatically. This change does not effect previously written part programs.

New Features with Geomet v.1.04.007.010

.007.007

This enhancement is designed for DCC Coordinate Measuring Machines using Manual Indexing Probes such as a Renishaw MIP, MH8 or MIH. Geomet can not be configured through System Options->Probes and Sensors to activate automatic prompts when switch between qualified probe positions. This prompt will display when running a part program under DCC control whenever a probe change is required. The prompt will halt execution of the program so the operator can adjust the position of the probe head and then press continue to proceed.

.007.009

This is a correction to Print Exceptions for the reported angles on 2D Lines.

.007.010

Enhances the Select Scan feature for DCC scanning capability. Select Scan allows you to choose between straight line surface scan, radial surface scan and contour following scan in DCC modes.

New Features with Geomet v.1.04.010.001

.007.011

Updated the DXF Export function to include the data points from Plane, Sphere, Cylinder and Cone. The exported data points are considered the ball center XYZ points on the actual points gathered for the construction of the feature.

.007.012

To improve performance on large inspection files when the graphics are active, the symbolic display of a 3D Point has been changed from a Sphere with vector lines to three small lines intersecting at the XYZ location.

.008.001

Added a new Motion Ribbon to Geomet with DCC capability. This new ribbon, when activated, is located under the menu and offers large buttons for Motor On/Off, Homing and current status.

.009.001

In Geomet 301 we added a new function called Process Control Tolerance. This offers greater control of a manufacturing process by allowing the tolerance zone to be split into Action Trigger Levels providing better feedback before the manufacturing process produces Out-of-Control conditions.

.010.001

Created a new report form that will print a reduced version of the inspection. This report reduces the inspection only to features with inspection results and reduces paper consumption as much as 75%.

New Features with Geomet v.1.04.010.003

.010.003

Updated the PH9 and MCR20 handling within Geomet.

Installing the Geomet Upgrade

You have two choices from which you can choose. The self-expanding method can be found in the folder "Geomet Update v1.04.007.008" or "Geomet Update v1.04.007.010" double click on "Setup" and the installer will step you through the process.

The manual method is to copy the Geomet.exe from the folder "Geomet v1.04.007.008" or "Geomet v1.04.007.010" directly over the existing Geomet program. This can be found in the "Maintenance" folder.
