Reference Sphere Move
Under normal conditions, the Reference Sphere is mounted on your CMM in such a way as to produce consistent and repeatable probe qualifications. This is especially important when qualifying more than one probe to ensure accuracy in your Part Coordinate System.
Conditions arise when you must move the Reference Sphere. Once a Reference Sphere has been moved, it is not possible to add new probes or re-qualify existing probes without significant loss of accuracy between the various probes.
Geomet offers a function where you can move the Reference Sphere and correct the for the new XYZ center location. From the system drop-down menu select [File->Recover->Ref Sphere]. Note: in Junior the Reference Sphere Move function can be found under [Qualify->Ref Sphere Move].
You will be prompted that you are about to start the Reference Sphere recovery mode.
Upon accepting the informative statement, Geomet will prompt you to capture data points around the Reference Sphere. This is done with the Primary Tip within the existing stylus database. The primary tip is the first tip that you qualified when establishing the current database.
Upon completion, Geomet will update the primary tip XYZ location and then correct the relationship of all other styli to the primary tip.
