Welcome To Geomet Version 5.0

Installation Overview

Note: This document is intended to serve as a quick checklist during installation for those individuals who have prior experience working with both Microsoft Windows and Geomet Software. Detailed installation instructions can be found in the Geomet User’s Guide and in Geomet Online Manuals.

Remember to Uninstall any previous version of Geomet before installing the current version. Always back up important files and documents before beginning any software installation.

  1. Uninstall Any Previous versions of Geomet
  2. Before you begin the installation of Geomet, you must remove any previous versions of the Geomet software.

When removing the existing version of Geomet, all part inspections, export and import files, and other data files will not be deleted.

However, we suggest that you back up any important Geomet files and part programs from the My Documents\Geomet 101 folders before beginning.

Open the Control Panel from the task bar:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs and choose the Install/Uninstall tab. Highlight Geomet or Geomet 101 in the list, and hit Add/Remove… to begin the process.

The Geomet Online Manuals and SVR1, if present, must also be removed by using the same procedure.

  3. Geomet Installation
  4. To start the installation, insert the Geomet CD. The CD is not designed with an auto-start feature.

The setup program for Geomet Version 5.00 can be found on the Geomet CD in the Geomet folder. Run the setup.exe application which will begin the installation process.

  5. GeoClean Authorization
  6. To enter the authorization codes, start the GeoClean application from the task bar:

    Start -> Programs -> Geomet 101 -> GeoClean

Choose the appropriate program for the authorization.

Select Enter Authorization Codes from the top menu to begin the authorization process.

Note: For Upgrade Users only: Select Registry Tools -> Rebuild Toolbars to update your new Geomet Version 5.0 software with your previous settings.

  7. Adobe Acrobat Installation
  8. In order to view the Geomet Online Manuals, you will have to first install Adobe Acrobat Reader v4.0 and accept Adobe’s Software License Agreement.

This can be found on the Geomet CD in the folder ACROREAD.

Open the folder ACROREAD\Installers and run the setup program ACRD4ENU.EXE which will guide you through the complete process.

Before viewing the manuals themselves, make sure to accept the Adobe Software License Agreement by starting the Adobe Acrobat Reader application.

The Online Manuals are installed in a typical Geomet installation.

Note: You must choose the ‘Acrd4enu.exe’ file located under the Acroread\Installers directory to install the Acrobat Reader.

  9. Launching Geomet

When first starting Geomet, you will be prompted to choose the CMM Interface.

See the Feature Release Access Codes sheet supplied with the User’s Manual for the proper interface.
